Brooke Herbert
Brooke Herbert Hayes is a freelance photographer who lives in the Logan Square neighborhood of Chicago. Originally from Louisville, Kentucky, Brooke moved here in 2009 after receiving her degree from the University of Louisville where she studied photography and art history. Brooke currently works as an assistant to Chicago photographers and does freelance work. In addition, she works closely with I Am Logan Square as a photographer and manages and contributes regularly to the IALS blog. Brooke has also curated several exhibitions and has exhibited her own work in Louisville and Chicago. Brooke’s main subjects of interest to photograph are interior spaces, food, homes and the occasional wedding or two. She has spent much time photographing her large family in Southern Indiana and Kentucky and has produced two photo essays on them called Dwellings and Empty Nest. When she’s not photographing, she enjoys hanging out with her husband and two cats– cooking, camping and having other adventures.
