Eric Futran
- Lifelong Chicago resident: Columbia College graduate 1974
- One of the original photographers for the Reader 1973
- Began doing food and culinary photography in early 80’s
- Began shooting pictures for Great Chefs TV show in 1985: spent over 15 years working with them in fine dining restaurants all over the country and world. My pictures illustrated dozens of Great Chefs cookbooks.
- Photographed winners of Restaurants and Institutions Ivy awards for 15 years, and worked with chefs like Wolfgang Puck, Rick Bayless, and Emeril LeGasse
- Photographed the Culinary Olympics in Germany and the Bocuse D’or in France for several years
- Art of the Palette show opened at Lab One Gallery in 1976 and toured the US for several years
- Mounted shows on Soul Food and Middle Eastern Cuisine for the Chicago Department on Cultural Affairs
- Became affiliated with Kendall College as a teacher and photographer in 1996
- Winner of Best of ASMP in 2007 for a series of alumni posters produced for Kendall
- After 35 year hiatus, began shooting for the Reader again, providing the weekly dining column photo.
- Becomes involved in music after taking classes at the Old Town School. Started writing songs and performing with the ChickenFat Klezmer Orchestra and the newly formed band, The Noshers, who only sing songs about food. Writes songs with titles like Flouxetine Tango and Shake That Chicken Fat.
