Charles Steele

I am a native of Chicago and I’ve been a commercial photographer for over thirty years. I attended University of Illinois and SAIC primarily for design, but it was a required course in photography at IIT that introduced me to the world of images. I was hooked.

I spent years assisting photographers at various studios until a staff position became available. Eventually I opened my first studio. It was in my apartment. The second one was in Printers Row and I specialized in still life. Clients included advertising agencies, design firms and corporations. I’ve worked with some very talented, creative people in this industry, and for that I am thankful.

I have been told that I have a penchant for clean, graphic, simplistic imagery and there is some truth to that. But there are many facets and dimensions to photography and I have explored only a few. Experiment, is what I’m hearing in my head lately and I am listening. I can’t wait to see what happens.
